V-Day. and Sushi.

Monday was indeed Valentine's Day. Unlike most years, where I really just try to avoid thinking about the day in general, I actually wore red. A least, a reddish color. I said happy valentine's day to people - even people I called on the phone. Strangers I called on the phone. I ate some candy, and chocolate, and only began to hate the whole idea of Valentine's day when I went into the restaurant to pick up my sushi and realized that every single person in there was with their "Valentine." Please.

There was also one table of four girls, having probably the most fun out of all of the other couples in the restaurant. [I know because I was there for a LONG TIME waiting for my sushi. But the people working there were wearing pink, so I was pleasantly entertained watching them scurry back and forth. That, and it was for sushi].

Then I went home to my new friend Melissa's new studio apartment [which are WAY bigger than I ever thought! Seeing a new apartment also makes me want to move], with my lovely roommates Paige and Kate [see below], and had some sushi, wine and champagne. And overall some grand, girly, non-couply but non-bitter Valentine's day fun.
Look at that. Delicious. And pretty.

Oh, and the girls are pretty too.

And then there's me [so you can be reminded a) of what I look like and b) that I exist and c) there's a face to this writing and d) you can be introduced to Melissa].

Then Paige made this DELICIOUS Thunder Cake [and it was chocolate! my favorite kind of cake!]. You can read about it on her blog. It's a pretty big deal.
Then we had champagne. And talked about many things, like ships and sealing wax and cabbages and kings.

I don't know if that's how the quote really goes. But - you don't need to know what we talked about. Maybe we didn't burn photos of past boyfriends in a trash can, but still. It's sacred.

All in all, Valentine's Day 2011 wasn't half bad.

"The time has come," the walrus said. "To talk of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax. Of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot and whether pigs have wings."

That is one of my favorite chapters in one of my most favorite books.
